Notes:
This catalogue contains debris discs around nearby main-sequence stars that have been spatially resolved at at least one wavelength, either in thermal emission or in scattered light and that have been reported as such in peer-reviewed journals.
This comes with the following caveats:
- There is some uncertainty about what to call "resolved". Some of the discs are resolved only marginally, with the size of the extended emission exceeding the PSF size of the instrument only slightly.
- For some of the younger systems, a classification of the disc as a "debris disc" may not be reliable. Some of these may still be in transitional or even protoplanetary stage.
- Although we did include all the discs we are aware of, the list is most likely incomplete. We intend to update the list more or less regularly.
All these data come with no warranty. If you want to make sure the data are correct and get a handle on the uncertainties, please consult the original publications. Each disc value given in the table is linked to the original paper. We would be grateful for any corrections and suggestions.
We also recommend the circumstellardisks.org database maintained by Karl Stapelfeldt, which contains more comprehensive information on many of these discs, offers a powerful interface including sorting and search options, and covers both debris and protoplanetary discs.
