The stellar astrophysics group of the AIU Jena mainly works on the physics of compact objects (i.e. neutron stars and substellar objects like brown dwarfs and planets)
and addresses three general fields of research:
- The search for substellar companions with direct imaging, astrometry and transit methods
- Formation of low- and high-mass stars
- Investigation of isolated, nearby neutron stars
